Failure to drop, if withdrawing from a course, will result in a debt and/or failing grade. Any student enrolled in a course who misses the first class meeting and is not present at the beginning of the second class meeting may be dropped from the course by the instructor. But, do not assume instructors will add or drop for students! It is ultimately the responsibility of the student to drop the course, and keep a record of the transaction.AuditingAttending class without registering is not permitted. Students may audit certain selected classes (see list/policy posted in Bailey Hall, Santa Rosa Campus and/or in Jacobs Hall, Petaluma Campus) for a fee of $15.00 per unit plus any additional course costs. Students regularly enrolled in 10 or more units may audit up to 3 units free of charge. The
following conditions must be met to audit a class:- Auditor status is allowed only if the student has exhausted repeat possibilities as a regular student in classes and it has been less than three years since the student last enrolled in the course.
- Auditors must be eligible for admission to the College as regularly enrolled students and meet the course prerequisites.
- Instructor must sign an Audit Card to show approval for the student to attend a class as an auditor on a space available basis and will be allowed to register only after the second class meeting and must do so in-person at one of the Admissions and Records Offices.
Auditors cannot change their status to regular enrollment in the class (or reverse). No transcript of record will be maintained, no grade will be given, nor are units recognized for enrollment verification purposes.Once the auditor fee is paid, it will not be refunded. Students, registered as auditors only, will not be entitled to the regular health services other than emergencies.Credit/No Credit or Grading OptionSome courses are graded on a letter-grade only basis, and some are graded on Credit (CR)/No Credit (NC) only basis. Please check individual course listings for grade options.Students must authorized the CR/NC option on Web Link or by submitting a CR/NC card at one of the Admissions and Records Offices. The CR/NC grading option must be selected prior to 30 percent of completing the class. - Non Resident and International Student Tuition: A California resident is one who has established legal residence for one year prior to the first day of instruction of a semester. Students who are residents of other states wishing to change their residency must show intent to remain. Just being present does not prove intent. Reasonable evidence of permanent stay in California determines state residency. Such as: local voter registration, employment verification, DMV documentation, state income tax and other proof of California residency. Non-Resident students are required by the state to pay an additional $177.00 per unit and international students with F-1 visas pay an additional $29.00 per unit. The international fee is a state requirement for which there are no waivers.
- Note: AB540, Exemption from Non-Resident Tuition for certain eligible California high school graduates, became effective January 1, 2002. The AB540 Form is available online.
- Health Services Fee: SRJC charges a fee to support the operation of Health Services. This is a state-mandated fee with waivers for students who depend exclusively on prayer for healing, apprenticeship and audit students, and students enrolled in only '0' unit courses. Effective Summer 2006, all students enrolled in credit courses will be required to pay the health fee, including students qualifying for BOG fee waivers.
- Student Representation Fee: The Student Representation Fee of $1.00 provides support for student representatives who state positions and viewpoints before city, county, and district governments and before offices and agencies of the state and federal governments. Students may refuse to pay the Student Representation Fee for religious, political, financial, or moral reasons by stating so on a Registration Card or by signing a waiver available through the Student Affairs Office if registering on the Web.
GraduationTo receive the Associate in Arts and/or the Associate in Science degree, a student must submit a 'Petition to Graduate' form. Petitions are available in the Admissions and Records Offices and should be submitted as soon as the student has registered for classes in the semester they wish to graduate.Students are urged to consult a counselor with any questions about degree requirements. Students transferring to a university are encouraged to complete the Associate Degree.Official transcripts from all colleges previously attended should be submitted as part of the graduation evaluation process. This process reviews course work completed at SRJC and, if applicable, compares transfer college course work with the SRJC Associate Degree requirements. Applicants are notified by mail of their eligibility for the degree.High School Concurrent Enrollment StudentsHigh School Concurrent Enrollment students must complete the following each semester of attendance at Santa Rosa Junior College at least 48 hours in advance of registration for classes:All concurrent students are considered New Students each semester and do not qualify for priority registration status. The Social Security Number is used as a means of identifying records pertaining to the student, as well as identifying the student for purposes of financial aid, disbursements, and any debts payable to the College. The Social Security Number is NOT used as your student indentification number and will NOT appear on any reports generated by the College. All students receiving financial aid, employed by the College, or wanting to declare college expenses as a tax credit will be required to furnish the College with their Social Security Number.TranscriptsUpon request to the Admissions and Records Office, the first two official transcripts ever requested will be issued without charge for each student. Thereafter, each official transcript will cost $5.00 each. An additional fee of $5.00 will also be charged for PICK-UP and RUSH requests. No transcripts will be issued for any student who has an outstanding financial obligation to the College. Transcripts are normally sent out in five working days. Requests may be submitted by mail or in person at one of the Admissions and Records Offices. The Official Transcript Request Form is also available online. Unofficial Transcripts are available online or in-person with a photo ID at no charge.VerificationsUpon request to the Admissions and Records Office, two official enrollment verifications will be issued without charge for each student. Further verifications will cost $5.00 each and an additional fee of $5.00 for a RUSH request. No verification will be issued for any student who has an outstanding financial obligation to the College and payment for the verification must be included with the verification request. Verifications are usually sent out within five working days. Requests may be submitted in-person or by mail.Wait ListsDuring priority registration and prior to the beginning date of the class, a number of enrollment slots beyond the maximum class size may be available on a 'Wait List' basis. Please note, not all classes will offer a wait list.Wait-listed students are considered officially registered and must attend class through the second class meeting. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of his/her status in the class. Drops by other students will automatically advance a student's position on the wait list and enrollment may be secure by the time classes begin. If students enroll on a computerized wait list, they are expected to pay all appropriate fees and cannot enroll in classes that conflict in time nor can they enroll in another section of the same course for which they are on the wait list.If final enrollment is not secured, students can apply fees to another class or receive a full refund.Consider the advantages of enrolling in a section of a class at a less desirable time rather than enrolling on a wait list basis.
